Thanksgiving Fest!

by Makenzie Magnus

It's that time of year! I can't believe we are in the throes of planning Thanksgiving and Christmas events. If you're like me, you use these church-wide celebrations as markers of the season. I don't listen to Christmas music until The Gift Goes On. Christmas isn't Christmas until the Candlelight service. The new “Night of Hope” event we are hosting with Bethlehem Star Baptist Church this year is going to be amazing, and I have been looking forward to it since August! This year, I am also anticipating the “Thanksgiving Fest” we are hosting with six of our local schools. When we started to think and dream about Thanksgiving this year, we saw the opportunity to try something totally new because, honestly, WHY NOT! Everything else this year is different.

On Friday, November 6, we are inviting 200 families from six of our community schools to a Thanksgiving Fest at the CUBE! It is come-and-go, and we need volunteers to make it a great and welcoming event for our community! You can help by volunteering for the event or by helping us pack the Thanksgiving boxes the night before on November 5. We would also love help purchasing bilingual Jesus Storybook Bibles to give to each family.

Sign-up HERE to help us pack boxes on Thursday, November 5, from 6:30-8 p.m.

Sign-up HERE to volunteer for the Thanksgiving Fest on Friday, November 6, from 5-8 p.m.

Help us give families a bilingual Jesus Storybook Bible ($14.99)! Use our wishlist to send them to us. (I couldn't believe the packages that arrived in the first week! We have 47 Bibles already!)

Our school counselors in our community are really excited about this. In fact, we've had more schools request to be part of this event after hearing about it through teachers or other schools! Please be praying that families connect to our church (and ultimately to Jesus), and that this is a fun, safe, approachable evening that blesses families in our community. I am so thankful for our church and the way that you continue to step up to love our community and support new ideas.
