Every one of us has a personal understanding of whom we believe Jesus to be. I would like to explain what Jesus is to me.

Jesus is GOD the son. He has existed before the beginning of time.

John 1:1-5 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega:
What does that really mean? The Lord God himself is the beginning and the end of all things. God the Son is the eternal Lord and ruler of the past, present and future. Without him, you have nothing that is eternal, nothing that can change your life and nothing that can save you from sin. Is the Lord your reason for living, the Alpha and Omega of your life?

Revelation1:8 says, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God, who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Jesus is my Savior:
God, in his love for us, sent his only son to be the Savior of the world. Jesus willingly gave up his Deity status in heaven to come to earth as a simple servant to be the Savior of the world.  What should be illuminated is that he was the only one who could be the sacrificial lamb. Why?  Because Jesus was and is a perfect picture of the father.

Ephesians 2:8-11 says, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Jesus is the Gatekeeper to heaven:
Jesus has been given authority of the heaven and the earth. He’s the final authority on who enters heaven.

Matthew 28:18-20 says, Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

John14:6 says, Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

Jesus is my Fortress:
Psalms 18:2 says, “The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”

Jesus is my Sustainer:
God is the Creator of life and the Sustainer of life. He has given the “seed” of life and breath of life, and our responsibility is to protect these sacred gifts given by the Father in Heaven. Contentment comes when people surrender to God and allow Him to guide their lives according to His loving righteousness.

Isaiah 46:4 says, “Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and arry you I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”

Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”

Jesus in my Advocate:
It is important to understand that Jesus is the only human mediator between God and man. No one else—not Mary, not any previous Christian saints—has the power to intercede for us before the throne of the Almighty. No angel has that position. Christ alone is the God-man, and He mediates and intercedes between God and man. “For there is one God and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”

1 Timothy 2:5 says, “For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”

Jesus is Love:
This statement can’t be refuted: all the evidence of Jesus’ actions, his ministry of spreading the gospel and saving souls goes back to his Love for his father, disciples and for us, as his brothers and sisters. But the true and most significant display of Jesus’ love for us, even when we were his enemy, was willingness to die on the cross for our sins. A man who was sinless gave his life for the entire world of sinners that we may be reconciled back to his father.

John 15:9-17 says, “As the father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my father’s commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this that someone lay down his life for his friends.”
